Inquiry Block 2: We looked at a series of random words in a picture and chose ones that interested us. Based off of those words we chose our favorite ones and created multiple "why" questions. Then we chose one of the questions and I chose "why does respect matter more in certain cultures than others?" I am still researching to form an opinion and will reflect on it soon.

Inquiry block 1: On my first inquiry block we all wrote a series of questions on sticky notes and stuck them up on boards. Following that, we all went and looked at a few other questions that interested us and chose them. After that we picked our favorite of those questions and based a search off of one of them. My question that I chose was "Why do we care what others think?" I found a lot of very interesting information that mostly revolved around the primitive brain and how the way that we act, as in caring so much what others think is actually a survival trait rooted deep within our primitive brain.
Long board: I began working on my long board with just an inch think piece of baltic birch wood. I wanted my long board to have a slight curve in it that went down a half an inch and gradually curved up to the outside edge by about 1/8 inches every inch or so. The way that I decided that I would do this accurately is that I would get a drill bit and measure up to a 1/2 of an inch on it and tape it there and then drill all the way down the middle at that depth. Then I would measure 3/8 of an inch and tape there and drill an inch outside of that on both sides... then 2/8 then 1/8 so in and so forth. Then flip it and do the exact same thing on the other side except opposite. After I drilled it all in, I carved it down to those depths on both sides so it had an even curve. The reason i did it all to this depth is because the average long board is 1/2 inch thick. After all I sanded it down so it was smooth. Now I am in the process of getting spray on grip tape and trucks and wheels for the board so that I can actually ride. All in all it has been a very successful build.
Since the start of this year I have been working on and or at least started working on child poverty and I am planning on getting more information on it and then going to an organization that accepts food, clothes, and other hygiene supplies http://www.peoplesrc.org/food-drive-toolkit (link to the website I plan on donating to).
1.This website was tricky to make because I am not good with websites but in the end I see it as a good way to open opportunities by being able to present the work that I have done. It was hard to upload an image but in the end this has been a learning experience and has taught me another way to get work done and present specific projects.
